52 CCT Technique Challenge

At 52 Christmas Card Throwdown we have a technique challenge for you!

Such a wonderful way to combine lots of different papercraft techniques with interesting materials and textures. My panel on the left has been sponged with Tumbled Glass Distress Stain and stamped. I then applied gesso and made a stencil using Poppy Stamps Ornamental Boughs die. I used a sponge dauber to rub Mint Macaron and Pistachio Pudding inks through the stencil. I like how the gesso gives the pine needles a ghostly appearance (ghost pine needles...scary thought!).

I used two SU stencils from the new annual catalogue to make the background with its falling snow. Finally, I added a couple of die-cut pine branches with a button tied with linen thread and a sentiment.

I really enjoyed making this card and I do hope you will join us with your fabulous festive creations! April x

Watercolour Wings

I've been hopeless at blogging recently and have been distracted by crochet! I have been desperate to have a go with this lovely new SU stamp set - Watercolour Wings. I've used Soft Sky, Mint Macaron and Old Olive for his wings. The little spray of silver stars are hiding a smudge! Just love this stamp and am looking forward to trying lots of colour combos.

My butterfly is fluttering over the gate into Pixie's Snippets Playground!

Happy crafting! April x

52 CCT Theme Challenge

This week's challenge over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown is a theme challenge.

How cute is that for a challenge? I found this rather cool Candy Cane Elf digi at Sami Stamps. I balanced her against a ornament framelit and have added pieces of washi tape, baker's twine and tiny gold stars. The holly sprig is a Marianne die. Memo to self: Don't leave your fussiest of fussy cutting to the last possible minute!

Please have a look at the wonderful elves created by the rest of the Design Team. We are really looking forward to seeing your festive little helpers!

52 CCT Colour Challenge

It's a colour challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown this week and a very interesting one at that!

I was toying around with a few combos. First of all, I thought I was going to choose glittery red, then gold. In the end I decided to go with mint green! I have used SU's Mint Macaron envelope paper (not just for envelopes!). I added some of the lovely co-ordinating lace trim to make a bow and cut the sentiment from a piece of patterned paper by Pink Paislee (I layered this on a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock). I used a piece of Basic Black as my card base and used a trio of black enamel dots.

We are all looking forward to seeing your colour combos! Hope you can join us, April x

52 CCT Sketch Challenge

Over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown we have a great sketch challenge for you! You can flip it (like I have!) We just need to be able to recognise the elements of the sketch. I do hope that you will join us.

I opted for Lawn Fawn's cute Winter Fox with her steaming mug of hot chocolate. The tiny snowflakes and sentiment are also Lawn Fawn, but from Arctic Critters. I've coloured Foxy with Promarkers and used two of Stampin' Up's new, fabulous In-colours - Delightful Dijon and Mint Macaron for the second tag (embossed with SU's Argyle embossing folder) and the card base. These new colours complement a piece of patterned paper from Fancy Pants (Timbergrove) and the whole thing reminds me of a woolly jumper.

Please have a look at the rest of the Design Team's great cards and we look forward to seeing your Christmas creations, April x
