Happy Meow Year!

Happy New Year! As a cat addict, I couldn't resist the 'Nine Lives' stamp set in the new SU Spring catalogue. My colour scheme was inspired by this lovely combo over at Sunday Stamps. I love that cute bird!

I used SU's Grapefruit Grove, Balmy Blue, So Saffron and Basic Grey for my card. The cat certainly looks a lot happier than our two do when they find themselves near an empty food bowl!

Snippets were deployed, so I am sending my card to Di and Parsnip at Pixie's Snippets Playground and also saying a big congratulations to Di on an amazing 7th anniversary!

Here's to a new year of crafting opportunities! April x

52 CCT Technique Challenge

Silver hoof prints in the snow...two lady reindeer look adoringly at a photo of the handsome charmer, Rudolph. A similar scenario takes place when my friends and I watch Poldark on a Sunday evening...

This week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown we have a technique challenge for you.

Now when I look at the punch art people manage to think of, I am always amazed. Sadly I can never work out by looking at my collection of punches which bits will make the perfect budgie wing or a chameleon's big toe! So I am returning to my 'Punch art go-to'. When in doubt, cut an owl with the SU Owl Builder punch and remove its feet. Cut two branches using the Bird Builder punch and add as reindeer antlers. Brilliant! I have used scraps of dsp and card to make my trio of reindeer. The silver 'hoof prints' are one of the stamps from Best Day Ever and the photo was made using the On Film Framelits.

I do hope that you will join us over at 52CCT and show us your Christmas punch art! April x

I am also entering Rudolph and his girls in CHNC 222.

52 CCT Theme Challenge

At 52 Christmas Card Throwdown this week we have a theme challenge of sequins and pearls. I have gone for a rather minimalist take with a Marianne snowflake die-cut made from Stampin' Up Confetti Celebration dsp. I have combined it with Basic Grey and Bermuda Bay cardstock and a few silvery sequins. There are lots of pearls there, but you do have to look rather closely!!

I hope very much to see you over at 52CCT. The design team have created some fabulous cards to inspire you. Happy Crafting!

52 CCT Colour Challenge

Over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown we have a colour challenge this week - a lovely, subtle combination of white, silver and grey.

My walrus relaxing on ice beneath a snow-filled and starry sky is from Fawn Lawn's Arctic Critters. I have stamped him in Smoky Slate and made his tusks and nose glisten with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen. The ice is stamped in silver and the card is actually quite sparkly. Unfortunately, the SU Moonlight dsp perfectly matches the sky today, which makes taking photos a bit of a challenge. I feel a bit like an Arctic critter myself! Have a lovely Valentine's Day and do please join us with your festive creations over at 52CCT, April x

A Valentine Card

Here is a Valentine card that I'm entering in the I (heart) card sketches w/a twist no. 96 challenge. The cute owl is a From the Heart digi stamp called Owl Love - perfect for my owl obsessed daughter! I have coloured the stamp with pencils and sponged the background. The handmade embellishment included in the sketch is a clear epoxy heart sticker with Cherry Cobbler cardstock. I have used a Basic Grey card as my base and added some patterned paper from a magazine and a strip of washi tape. Happy Friday! April x

A Catty Challenge

This is my entry for CASE-ing the Catty Challenge #9 - a fab challenge where you use sections of the catalogue as the starting point for your own project. This week's section is the 'Thanks' part. I was inspired by the box on page 148. My version has Melon Mambo and Basic Grey flowers cut using Flower Fair Framelits and the background is Typeset dsp. I've taken the sentiment from Another Thank You, but I've made it using MDS, so I could shrink it down to a small tag. I hope you like it! April x

Tape It

Here is a very simple card using the fantastic Tape It set of stamps. I was lucky enough to receive this set as a birthday present, along with some pewter embossing powder that gives a gorgeous and subtle silvery sheen. I have used Real Red and Black StazOn inks and Basic Grey cardstock as the base. It is my entry for a very interesting Nacho Average sketch challenge, NAC#85. I love it - it's very different from my usual style of cards, but I think that is why challenges are such a good idea, as they get you out of your usual creative comfort zone.

On another black, white and red theme, here is another card that we will be making at Thursday's workshop, combining Petite Petals with Everything Eleanor.
Hope you have a lovely Easter, April x
